The Revolution Will Not Be Tumblelogged
Saturday, April 21st, 2007Mini ZuD is sorry to hear that I wasn’t overly enamoured with the Tumblelog experience but doesn’t really expand on what exactly he/she/it finds revolutionary about the concept. According to Wikipedia, “a tumblelog is a variation of a blog, that favors short-form, mixed-media posts over the longer editorial posts frequently associated with blogging.” So just a plain old blog then, except with shorter posts. Right.
To be fair though, I probably didn’t really expand on why I didn’t enjoy tumblelogging either. It wasn’t so much the concept that I didn’t like - the idea of posting short, concise entries instead of long, meandering ones, is something that appeals to me as does the idea of just posting a link or a photo and not going into an unnecessary explanation; letting the content speak for itself as it were. But maybe I am missing the point because you can do those things on a normal blog as well so I just don’t understand why there needs to be any kind of differentiation made between the two styles of blog; I could well be over-simplifying things but a tumblelog is just a blog with shorter/no sentences.
And since Wordpress can do everything that Ozimodo can do and more, I don’t really see why I should limit myself by using less feature-rich software to run my site.
