The Revolution Will Not Be Tumblelogged

Mini ZuD is sorry to hear that I wasn’t overly enamoured with the Tumblelog experience but doesn’t really expand on what exactly he/she/it finds revolutionary about the concept. According to Wikipedia, “a tumblelog is a variation of a blog, that favors short-form, mixed-media posts over the longer editorial posts frequently associated with blogging.” So just a plain old blog then, except with shorter posts. Right.

To be fair though, I probably didn’t really expand on why I didn’t enjoy tumblelogging either. It wasn’t so much the concept that I didn’t like - the idea of posting short, concise entries instead of long, meandering ones, is something that appeals to me as does the idea of just posting a link or a photo and not going into an unnecessary explanation; letting the content speak for itself as it were. But maybe I am missing the point because you can do those things on a normal blog as well so I just don’t understand why there needs to be any kind of differentiation made between the two styles of blog; I could well be over-simplifying things but a tumblelog is just a blog with shorter/no sentences.

And since Wordpress can do everything that Ozimodo can do and more, I don’t really see why I should limit myself by using less feature-rich software to run my site.

Kinda…

A few months ago I got an email to say that one of the pics that I had posted on my Flickr account had been shortlisted for inclusion in a Schmap guide to Dublin. Yesterday I got an email to say the picture had been selected and was included in the newest edition of the guide! Cool, huh?

You can get the guide below:

My pic can be found by going to the section about Dalkey.
